The National Energy Board黑料社檚 (NEB or Board) 2014 annual report was tabled in Parliament. The report is produced each year and provides an overview of the Board黑料社檚 activities for that calendar year.
黑料社淲e continued to assert a strong regulatory presence in 2014 and have worked hard to keep Canadians safe and protect the environment黑料社� said Peter Watson, Chair and Chief Executive Officer. 黑料社淚 want the public to feel certain that they have a regulator they can trust, and I believe the information outlined in our Annual Report provides that confidence.黑料社�
Some highlights include:
- Receiving nearly 600 applications for energy infrastructure, imports/exports, tolls and tariffs and abandonment of facilities 黑料社� a 17%cent increase from 2013.
- Completing over 150 engagement activities 黑料社� a 64% increase from 2013.
- Completing over 350 compliance activities 黑料社� a 14% increase from 2013.
The Board took strong enforcement actions in 2014 where any non-compliance was noted including 316 Notices of Non-Compliance, Inspection Officer Orders, Safety Orders and Administrative Monetary penalties. The Board was also pleased to see that overall incidents are down 37% from the previous year.
The National Energy Board is an independent federal regulator of several parts of Canada's energy industry with the safety of Canadians and protection of the environment as its top priority. Its purpose is to regulate pipelines, energy development and trade in the Canadian public interest.
