Enbridge pipelines await federal decisions

With federal decisions pending on its postponed Northern Gateway project, Enbridge 黑料社 Canada黑料社檚 largest pipeline company 黑料社 is currently emphasising the importance of oil and gas pipeline safety.

Enbridge黑料社檚 Chief Executive, Al Monaco, stated: 黑料社淭he fact of the matter is that the additional scrutiny, and the tension - although perhaps uncomfortable - is leading the entire industry, I think, to get better ... Years ago in our industry we would have said, 黑料社榊ou know, things happen黑料社. And of course they do when you run industrial assets, but we黑料社檙e very focused today in making sure that we黑料社檙e striving for zero, zero incidents黑料社

After the recent Husky oil spill, which leaked an excess of 200 000 l of oil into the North Saskatchewan River, pipeline safety is again at the forefront of the news.

Chris Bloomer, President of the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association, explained: 黑料社淟et黑料社檚 get together and talk about it and see how we can improve. Let黑料社檚 just admit that we need to improve and how do we do that? We do need to try and come together to deal with this, because it黑料社檚 affecting the pipelines, but the pipelines affect the industry.黑料社

Enbridge is currently waiting for hear final decisions on two of its major pipeline projects in Canada.

On a tangent, following the Alberta wildfire, Enbridge pipelines have seen a decrease in its crude oil flow.

The Fort McMurray wildfire saw evacuations of oilsands and homes, as well as shutdowns of production. However, despite reporting its lower profit, Enbridge is devoted to the construction of its Northern Gateway pipeline project.
