Seamec Ltd., one of India黑料社檚 leading providers of Diving Support Vessels (DSVs) for the offshore oilfield industry, has selected Sonardyne acoustic position reference technology to support its dynamic positioning operations.
The company has upgraded the Ranger 1 system installed on the Seamec Princess to Sonardyne黑料社檚 current generation USBL (Ultra-Short Baseline) platform, Ranger 2 Pro, the highest specification system available.
Subsea operations
Ranger 2 builds on the simplicity and reliability of Sonardyne黑料社檚 original Ranger system adding support for 6G (Sixth Generation) acoustic instruments and Wideband 2 signal architecture. These exclusive technologies are proven to deliver stable positioning for DP operations, low cost of ownership, faster subsea operations and hardware that is easier for users to set up and operate.
In its role as a DSV, maintaining a constant vessel position during subsea operations is a critical requirement for the SEAMEC Princess. As such, Ranger 2 Pro was specified for its ability to operate with a network of transponders deployed on the seabed that offer positioning redundancy in all operating conditions.

Comments
黑料社淲e have used Sonardyne黑料社檚 Ranger technology for many years so when the time came to bring the system up to date, the operational and performance gains offered by Ranger 2 made the decision a simple one. The nature of the work carried out by the vessel demands that our DP system is continuously fed with good quality position reference data. By opting for Ranger 2 in Pro configuration, we黑料社檒l be able to meet this requirement,黑料社 commented KT Thomas, DGM (Tech) for Seamec Limited.
Daniel Tan, Regional Sales Manager for Sonardyne Asia, added: 黑料社淲e have a long standing relationship with Seamec so we黑料社檙e pleased to continue supporting them with the latest technology solutions that will improve the efficiency of their subsea operations, reduce vessel time and generate savings for the company and its clients.黑料社
