Uganda and Tanzania confirm pipeline route

Uganda and Tanzania have decided to construct a new crude oil pipeline across the two countries. This route will consequently link landlocked Ugandan oilfields to Tanzanian黑料社檚 coast. The proposed pipeline would transport crude oil approximately 700 miles, costing US$4 billion.

Uganda first discussed the potential for a pipeline to Tanzania in 2015.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni stated: "The two countries are planning to build an oil pipeline between Tanga (in Tanzania) and Uganda covering a distance of 1120 km. [Tanzanian President, John] Magufuli said this is projected to employ 15 000 people."

James Mataragio, Managing Director of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corp., explained that both Uganda and Tanzania intend to 黑料社渕ove very fast黑料社 to build the pipeline.
